ABOUT THE SMITH HOUSE
The Smith House, located in Darien, Connecticut, was completed in 1967 and overlooks the Long Island Sound from the Connecticut coast. The 2,800 square-foot house has a living room, dining room and study with waterfront view with a three-level glass enclosure on three sides.
ABOUT THE ARCHITECT
It was designed by the well-known architect, Richard Meier, who was a leading member of the avant-garde modern architecture movement of the 1960’s. This home was part of a series of single-family homes that marked the beginning of Meier’s career, and the Smith house, in particular, emerged as one of Meier’s first largely recognized architectural works.
